In the world we live in today, we are surrounded by innovative products and practices. Even though innovation is now a household word, there still isn’t a good understanding of the creative process it takes to get you there. Are you just born an inventor, renowned scientist, artist, performer, business guru or financial wizard?

Actually, after 60 years of research we now know we can learn from the creative thinking practices that highly successful individuals like these use to arrive at innovation. Once you have learned the thinking process, it can be easily replicated and applied to your own professional and personal everyday challenges. Creativity is a skill you can develop.

You have to feed creativity to arrive at innovation.  Freedom to challenge, generate lots of ideas, problem solve the best ones and experiment with outcomes leads to learning and growth that will be the launch pad to creating something truly unique and of value to you.  Tim McMahon quips, “Yes, risk taking is inherently failure-prone. Otherwise, it would be called sure-thing-taking.”

But it doesn’t have to be needlessly risky if we strategize for success. To insure that innovation happens, we need a clear vision of what we want to achieve, the best ideas we can generate to take us there and a winning strategy for getting the job done once we arrive.

Find out more about the  Field of Creativity, the four types of creative thinking using the Foursight Profile and Creative Problem Solving which is a process for arriving at innovation used for over 60 years..

Creating an environment that promotes and encourages ‘rocking the boat’ and risk taking as well as benchmarking and best practice approaches leads to new thinking and greater innovation

The truth is that we are all creative, we can build our creativity muscle and unleashed creativity sparks innovation.  We can learn what type of creative problem solver we are and we can add to our skill set different ways of thinking to improve the problem solving and creative thinking results we get.

We can also learn the key elements required in teams to ensure that all of the kinds of creative thinking are present when a team comes together to tackle a challenge or identify opportunities.

When we equip ourselves with this knowledge, skill set and create a supportive environment, we greatly reduce the risk and insure that the end result will measure up to expectations and aspirations.
