CREATING “POSSIBILITY” THROUGH THE POWER OF ENGAGEMENT CERTIFICATE PROGRAM (15 hrs)

 Certificate Objectives: 

 Course participants will be given a comprehensive overview of the Power of Engagement Model, how engagement is directly linked to commitment and creativity in the workplace and what concepts and components must be fully embraced in order to achieve a high engagement system. Through the course each participant will:      

  • Gain knowledge about the type of environment or “space” that encourages and ignites possibility vs. those that discourage or stifle it. 
  •  Discover their own style of creativity and thinking preference to enhance their leadership potential and abilities.
  •  Use a proven process of creative problem solving to build high engagement, discover new opportunities or solve existing challenges.
  •  Gain experience and facilitations skills using a variety of breakthrough thinking tools that encourage different types of creative thinking.
  •  Complete a three hour practicum applying the knowledge, skills and tools they have learned on real business/ life challenges.

SESSION ONE:  UNLEASH THE POWER OF ENGAGEMENT 

  • Introduces the Power of Engagement Model (POEM)
  • Introduces PECOH to access level of organizational
  • Interfaces concepts and components of the model with “messenger stories”
  • Engages participants in interactive collaborative exercises to examine stifled or ignited creativity in workplace

    CREATE THE RIGHT ENVIRONMENT FOR CREATIVITY

  • Introduces innovation – what it is and how to promote it
  • Uses KEYS to evaluate current workplace
  • Gives an overview of key components of “Playspace” to develop culture for creativity.
  • Uses “messenger” stories as launching point for thorough examination of necessary ingredients  for a culture of “play”

 SESSION TWO:  EXPLORE THINKING PREFERENCES AND STYLE OF  CREATIVITY

  • Administers Foursight Thinking Profile to group prior to discussion.
  • Helps participants identify strengths and compare and discuss in dyads with process buddies through online discussion.
  • Directs participants to examine non-preferences and discusses through in-person or online discussion ways to overcome limitations
  • Class participants will collectively create a class thinking preference profile.

  SESSION THREE:   PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS THAT  DRIVE CHANGE

  •  Explains 4 P’s of Innovation (person, process, product & place)
  • Introduces the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) Thinking Skills Model
  • Provides each student with the process and tools to examine real life issues facing them personally or professionally to:
    • Clarify the problem
    • Transform the Challenge
    • Implement the Solution

  SESSION FOUR:  YOUR EASY TO USE CREATIVITY TOOL BOX

  •  Teaches basic breakthrough thinking tools
  • Integrates them with the Creative Problem Solving process
  • Demonstrates facilitation skills to prepare students to successfully use the knowledge from this course.
  • Challenges participants to create their own tools for success.

  SESSION FIVE:   CREATING A NEW VISION FOR  POSITIVE  CHANGE

 Working individually and with in-person or on-line groups each participants  will:

  •  Identify an ongoing real challenge needing a solution  
  • Create a vision and strategy
  • Generate possible ideas and choose best ideas
  • Examine how to find opportunity and/or overcome obstacles
  • Plan for successful implementation
